architecture++

Long time no speak…

So it has been a fair while since I blogged, a lot has happened an yet I haven’t explicitly written on here. I was made redundant from my position as 1st line Technical Support at Griffin, a shame because it was fun but I gained a fair amount of Networking experience to expand on my techno savvy-ness. I wrote a C# app and a Python based call monitor whilst there.

I now work for a software company as a support desk analyst, lots of T-SQL and a touch of Pascal Script (no, I’m not going into great depth learning Delphi). I have been busy creating a company Wiki/Knowledgebase for the support desk, also writing a license record system in PHP/MySQL which may/may not be mainstream. Oh, and making tutorial videos in Camtasia! Yippee.

I have been trying to get into architecture, alas, architecture doesn’t want me! I’ve had quite a few interviews at a few practices but the usual adage of “lack of experience” follows me. Apparently I interview well though. I just can’t win. Alas, a couple of the architectural professionals I have spoken to have strongly recommended I stay away from the profession – they have not spoken kindly of the current state of affairs.

In the meantime I am looking to do the Red Hat exams, open up some more doors… I seem to thrive in IT. Thus far all pretty easy but I am crunching through the RHCSA and that isn’t too taxing. Not sure how many job opportunities it opens. I’m in no rush to move.

Anyways, don’t expect much from me at the moment. I don’t get much time to ‘architecture’.
